Otoscopes: Are used to examine the aural and nasal cavities. They consist of a head that holds a disposable speculum and a handle. They can be portable or be attached to a wall and are lighted either by the attachment on a wall or battery. They also offer low power magnification which aids in diagnosis of various illnesses. .

Ophthalmoscopes: Are used by physicians and ophthalmologists to see the back of the eye. They are used as part of routine medical examinations or as a part of an eye examination.
